The use of scrapbooking supplies in home decor has been all the rage for a while. As a scrapbooker with lots of product, I am always on the lookout for new ways to use my supplies. One of this month’s challenges at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog is to create a 3-D project from your kit.
Challenge #2: Let’s all get out of our comfort zones. No cards, layouts, or mini-albums, Make a 3-D project mostly from paper.
What could I create from my kit, Autumn Adventure, that would fit the criteria?
Well, towards the end of September, my youngest determined that it was time to decorate for fall. He toted up all of our Halloween decorations and placed them throughout the house. The dining room table was bare, however. I did not have anything to use as a fall centerpiece!
Then came my idea—I would take a couple of empty coffee cans plus my kit and create something cute for my table.
First I covered the cans with patterned papers.
Then I decorated the can with more paper, twine, die cuts, a wood veneer shape and a trinket.
Lastly, I cut and embossed leaf shapes, placed them on dowels, and put them in the cans.
I even filled the cans with coffee to help the dowels stand up and to make my house smell like a coffee shop!
Now that I have successfully made a home decor project from mostly paper, I am looking forward to making even more for the holidays ahead. Take a look at the supplies you have and see what kind of 3-D projects you can create!
