For my new monthly project, 1 Kit, 1 Sketch, 1 Month, I will be using this sketch along with my kit, Fresh Start. The sketch is simple and allows for the showcase of one great photograph as well as room for a fairly substantial amount of journaling.
My son often builds his own creations from the hundreds, no make that thousands, of LEGOS that he has. As much as he loves building from the kits, he also loves making his own airplanes, race cars, helicopters, and even movie characters. This picture is a great close-up of a car he designed–perfect for this sketch.
The background paper coordinates with, but does not exactly match, the yellow in the car–allowing the car as the subject of the photo to stand out. I backed the photo with a neutral grey patterned paper to give the photo block some texture and contrast.
Instead of using flowers as embellishments as the sketch suggests, I used several die cuts. I began by adding the circle and rectangle at the top of the photo as in the sketch. At the top right of the page, I used two tags–one a die cut and the other cut from a piece of the patterned paper used behind the photo. I topped the tags with a circle embellishment to echo the circle in the photo block.
Next I added the title and journaling. To complete the visual triangles on my page, I used a blue acetate circle at the bottom of the journaling.
Using a kit and a sketch, I was able to quickly put this page together!
Come back later this month–I will have more layouts using this kit, Fresh Start, and this sketch.
Now go create!
