Coming Home: The Final Pages

Welcome to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog hop! You should be arriving here from Tina’s blog.

January has been a wonderful month for me and my counterfeit kit. I completed a total of six layouts with this kit! My kit, Coming Home, is based on the new UBUD collection from Kaisercraft, our inspiration kit for January.

My kit, seen here, was full of soft, organic colors and patterns, mixed with textures like woodgrain and vellum.

The first three layouts I made were for each of the challenges this month at Counterfeit Kit Challenge–use a door on a page, incorporate Zentangle in your design, and describe your perfect day.

The last three layouts were all created using sketches from the Ready, Sketch, Go class.

The first sketch I used allowed for a large amount of journaling, so I told the story of a trip my family and I took over this past Thanksgiving. On Friday, we drove about four hours to visit my sister and her family. This sketch was perfect for documenting this longer story.

The layout Happy Together was one with which I had the most trouble creating. The sketch was pretty straight forward, but I was getting close to using up all the patterned paper in my kit. The patterned paper that I used as the background seemed so plain–I ended up adding the strips of blue patterned paper at the top and bottom to give the page more structure. After finishing the page, I was very pleased with it!

On the page Right Now, I documented my children as they are at this moment in time. I have done this type of page before–I love to just capture a snapshot of their lives at different times. It is a simple page, but with a lot of journaling.

I loved working with this kit, Coming Home, this month, especially knowing that I put a small dent in my large stash!

Next stop on the hop, Sara’s blog. Thanks for stopping by! And make sure to visit Counterfeit Kit Challenge on February 1st to see our next inspiration kit.

Now go create!

  1. Wonderful layouts. The love and pride for you family shines out from them. The “right now” layout of the children is so much fun to read. And the addition of the blue on the TG layout is perfect.

  2. 6 layouts is a great achievement! I’ve only managed the one so far! But I have LOAD coming up so who knows.

These three layouts are great and very much your style – really like that they were based off sketches – I love sketches. Great use of your kit and the cute embellishments

  3. Beautiful layouts and love the Right Now layouts so cool to read about your kids 🙂 Your 14 year old looks just like you 🙂 Cool to see a fellow Ready Sketch Go 🙂 I need to get back to that class and create with those sketches 🙂
