Music seems to be a part of every person’s life in some way. There are those who play musical instruments, those who write music, and others who listen and collect music. This month at Simple Scrapper, music is the inspiration. The Story Starters all relate to the music in our lives.
In our family we have two guitar players, two piano players, one violinist, and one drummer. My older son just took up playing the drums. He refurbished an old drum set he found at the local pawn shop and started taking lessons. I have loved listening to him begin to play real songs!
My first layout for July documents my son’s new interest in drumming. The only two photos I had of him drumming were fairly grainy iPhone photos, so I converted them to black-and-white. I then used a somewhat monochromatic color scheme with only a few touches of color.
My second layout this month is a departure from my usual single 12×12 page. I used one of this month’s Sketch/Templates for inspiration to make a spread for my pocket page album for 2015. One side is a 9×12 layout (the size of my album) and the other side is a pocket page with 12 3×3 squares.
This past month I have become enamored by the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone. I love to play around with the film and lens settings to make unusual pictures. This spread explains what Hipstamatic is and showcases some of the photos I have created with the app.
