Every summer I look forward to May Flaum’s Camp Scrap because I always learn so much! The class is filled with mixed media prompts and new techniques I cannot wait to try. My normal scrapbooking is simple and traditional—I rarely use sprays or paints or doodling. With May’s class, I give myself permission to just PLAY. I pull out my craft mat and all of those Tim Holtz products that I JUST HAD TO HAVE (but never use) and I create something new.
One of the first layout prompts was to make a page using a grid design. I love using grids and my pages usually look like this—
And if I get really artsy, I create a page like this—
For this newest page, I stepped out of my comfort zone just a bit. I still used the grid design, but did much more layering and embellishing than usual. Taking inspiration from the class prompt, I made this page—
What fun! I allowed myself to play around with papers, design, and embellishments in new ways. To create the page, I started with white card stock, backed it with a patterned paper from Bo Bunny, and used the June embellishment kit from Pink Fresh Studio. I am sure this layout will inspire many other pages in the future!
