September at Simple Scrapper

September is here—can you believe it? I cannot. Summers seem to fly by more quickly every year. However this year, I did really enjoy the entire season. I spent a lot of time outdoors, which makes me appreciate all that summer has to offer.

One of the things I enjoyed most was going to the Farmer’s Market. One day in early summer, we visited the big Farmer’s Market in our area. There were rows and rows of plants, flowers, fruits, and vegetables. We shopped in some of the local businesses that had set up storefronts at the market. Our best purchase—homemade ice cream from a local dairy!

Since I had several photos from this event, I decided to use two pocket pages for the layout. I was inspired by a sketch/template from this month’s membership at Simple Scrapper.

The first page is a 6×12 page protector. I designed the front page to hold the title, one photo, and the journaling card. You can see here the 6×12 page closed on top of the second 12×12 page.

When the 6×12 pages is opened, the photos on the back of the title page are visible along side the 12×12-page layout.

I love the journaling card from Gossamer Blue that says, “Wander without purpose or reason.” I felt that this sentiment fully captured the feeling I had that day. I was able to wander around the Farmer’s Market, just admiring everything I saw.

Now that the end of the year is approaching, I am looking back at the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year to see what I have accomplished. One of my goals for 2015 is to read more. I have been keeping a list of the books I have completed this year to make sure I am keeping up with this goal.

The Story Starters at Simple Scrapper this month are all about books and reading. In keeping with this theme, I made a page about the books I have read this year. So far I have read much more this year than in the last few years. I used to read A LOT of books each year and I really miss getting lost in a good novel.

One of the books I am reading right now is Written in My Own Heart’s Blood by Diana Gabaldon. If you have not read any of Gabaldon’s Outlander books, start now! It is an excellent series.

I used a previous membership sketch/template for the design of this page. I kept the design and embellishments on this layout fairly simple, because I knew that the journaling would be the focus of the page.

Go check out the membership at Simple Scrapper if you are looking for a fun, supportive community along with inspiration and solutions to help you reach your scrappy goals. And while you are there, enroll in Jennifer’s class Before Your Story—a workshop that will guide you in telling your own story. Registration is open and class begins September 17!

  1. Both layouts are lovely! The page and a half concept is a great alternative to a two-page spread. How nice to have such a big farmer’s market nearby. We have a very small one but I found a farmstand in the next town that I really like and have been stopping there this summer. The booklist layout is a nice record of your reading list – pretty layout too.
