Olivia | June at Counterfeit Kit Challenge

Welcome to the June Counterfeit Kit Challenge kit reveal blog hop! You should have arrived from Clair’s blog. (If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop, just click back to the CKC blog.)

This month our inspiration kit is this gorgeous collection by Felicity Jane—Willow. The lovely pinks and blues and florals in this kit immediately drew my eye.

I began assembling my kit by choosing patterned papers with colors similar to the ones found in the kit—pink and blue with a touch of yellow and two florals. I added a few chipboard and cardstock die cuts, similar to those found in the die cut package in the kit. I was inspired by the puffy sticker bow so I included some ribbon in my kit. I also added two packages of puffy stickers, both with a floral theme seen in the paper and stickers in the inspiration kit. My final additions were pink-and-gold Thickers, pink and blue word stickers, and pink-and-blue floral washi tape.

I love the soft, organic feel of my June kit, which I am calling Olivia in honor of my daughter’s new horse who joined our family today!

Please check back later on this month to see the projects I create with this kit. I am so excited to work with this collection!

Celebrate Spring | 1 Kit, 1 Sketch, 1 Month

Posted on

It is almost the end of the month (again!) and I am just now writing about my kit and sketch for March. I have been scrapping some—not nearly as much as I would like though–and blogging even less. Spring time has been busy!

In honor of spring, I selected a collection of supplies that celebrate the beauty and wonder of this season. I call this kit Celebrate Spring!

I began with this paper from Shimelle’s Little by Little collection. I loved the handmade look of the paper, the pretty pink color, and the mix of florals and polka dots. The rest of my papers stick to a color scheme of pink, yellow, and blue. I mixed in more stripes, florals, and polka dots.

The embellishments I chose include die cuts, puffy stickers, flat stickers, rhinestones, butterflies, chipboard die cuts, enamel dots, letter stickers, and washi tape. My favorite embellishments are these butterflies from Maggie Holmes. (**A complete list of supplies is at the end of the post.**)

I have been working with this sketch this month.

The first layout I made told the story of my son and daughter volunteering to help at various events at our church. The photographs are from the recent Valentine’s Day Pancake Breakfast. They both helped prepare and serve the food. I am very proud of their generous spirit!

The layout stuck fairly closely to the sketch. The background patterned paper I used at the top of the page is somewhat bold, so I simply used white cardstock at the bottom to give the eye a place to rest. The die cuts from the Tealightful collection from Pebbles were perfect as accents to the page!

The second layout features pictures of my son and husband at a recent grass fire. The two of them are both volunteers at our local fire department. I wanted to document their service to our community.

For this page, I turned the sketch so that the photos were at the top of the page. It was a challenge to create this page from a collection with so many pinks. I chose a color scheme of yellow, blue, and red and used the papers and embellishments I had that fit this scheme. I love the simplicity of the page and the pops of red against the lighter blues and yellows.

The final layout I have made thus far flips the sketch so that the photographs are on the left side. This arrangement fit my pictures well, since my daughter is looking off to the right in the bottom photo.

This page tells the story of my daughter taking Chinese classes at the school run by our local Chinese Association. For this layout, I used lots of layers under the photos as well as more embellishments. I love the butterfly in the lower corner symbolizing my daughter’s growth in beginning a new adventure as well as learning a new language.

I have a few more days left this month so I am hoping to get a more layouts done with the Celebrate Spring collection. Happy Spring!
