Snapshot | April at Counterfeit Kit Challenge

Happy April and welcome to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop! You should have come over from Clair’s blog. If you would like to see the full list of participants, just click back over the CKC blog!

This month Leslie has chosen Ashton Court from Cocoa Daisy as our inspiration kit. This collection is fun, vibrant, and completely adorable!

As I was perusing Ashton Court, I noticed the cute camera puffy sticker and bright patterned papers in the kit. I let these products be my guide as I assembled my own kit. I began with a patterned paper with a camera print from Simple Stories. I added several more papers in bold colors and geometric prints .

For embellishments, I have two packs of die cuts, coordinating stickers, camera clips, brads, and fun printed photo corners. I am calling this month’s kit Snapshot.

1 Kit, 1 Sketch, 1 Month | Fresh Start

Posted on

Happy New Year! I hope your 2017 is getting off to a great start. Mine certainly is–I have a brand new kit of scrapbooking goodies to create layouts with this month–and a new project for 2017!

Since I have many stories I want to tell this year, I have challenged myself to use one kit and one sketch to scrapbook with each month. By using a kit each month, I will limit my choices of supplies to make my workflow faster and more streamlined. By using one sketch in different ways, I will always have a starting point for my pages. This year-long project I am calling 1 Kit, 1 Sketch, 1 Month.

Also I will be integrating my scrappy goals for 2017 in this new project. (See this blog post.)

This month my kit has soft pinks, browns, teals and gold. I used this paper from My Mind’s Eye as the inspiration for the collection.

I added papers from Crate Paper, Fancy Pants, Echo Park, Simple Stories, Carta Bella, and Kaisercraft. All the papers are fairly muted in color with simple organic patterns that will coordinate well together.

For embellishments, I added Thickers, chipboard stickers from Shimelle and My Mind’s Eye, diecuts from Basic Grey and Carta Bella, wood veneer pieces, stitched brads, small letter stickers, washi tape from Echo Park and Doodlebug Design, and enamel dots–all in coordinating colors and patterns.

Interesting thought about this kit–I have a balloon paper from a birthday collection, two papers from a winter collection, and washi tape from a baby girl collection, but all the supplies coordinate very well. I love the versatility of today’s scrapbooking products!

These soft colors and floral patterns–very much a contrast to the bold reds and greens that I used last month to complete my December daily–are just right for starting off a brand new year. So I have titled my kit for January Fresh Start.

Check back later this month and I will reveal my projects made from this kit.

5 Things I Am Loving Today

Posted on

Few things make make me happier than shopping for scrapbooking supplies, especially this time of year when all of the holiday items are coming out. I love perusing the store websites and picking my favorites. A few even make it into my stash!

Here are 5 new scrapbooking products that have caught my eye recently:

  1. These cute Halloween clips from Bella Blvd. I do not have little kids anymore, so I do not see me using these clips on a page, but I definitely would use them in my planner! How adorable would that be?sbc_bla-1320
  2. This Halloween washi tape from Doodlebug Design. I could use this on layouts, in my planner, or even on cards.330504-500x500-1
  3. These wonderful little journaling cards from Bo Bunny–perfect for fall pocket-page scrapbooking.sbc_bo-20226646_0
  4. These Thickers from American Crafts because (a) I LOVE Thickers and (b) the letters look like candy canes!336739-500x500-2
  5. This holiday collection kit from Simple Stories. I live on a farm so I tend to decorate my house in rustic farmhouse colors for Christmas. This collection will be wonderful to use for my December album.7300

I loved looking at all of the new products hitting the market. Now I just have to decide which ones I like enough to order!

Dotty for Dots

I love a good polka dot. This pattern is so versatile and classic that it can be used in a variety of ways on your pages. Here are some of my current favorite polka dot papers.

Polka dots also appear on washi tape, stencils, and embossing folders–on just about  any scrapbooking product you can imagine!

One of this month’s challenges at Scrapbook Challenges, the Sketch Crew was tasked with using polka dots somewhere on our layouts. I chose a cute bold red paper with large white dots from Simple Stories to make this page about my family’s recent trip to the fair.

The bright color and random dot pattern evoke the sense of fun and whimsy we found at the fair.

We live on a farm out in the country. The small town near us hosts a fair each year. It is not very big, but the kids still enjoy going. We went one evening this summer just as the sun was going down. I was able to take some great photos of my husband, the kids, and the rides. I chose a few pictures that captured the excitement and magic of the evening.

Since I used this bold polka dot paper, I cropped my photos fairly small and converted them to black and white. The colors in the patterned papers give a sense of what we saw that night, even though the pictures are not in color.

So take a look through your stash as see how you can incorporate polka dots into your next project. And if you would like more inspiration, visit the Scrapbook Challenges blog.

Summer Stories | June Kit

Posted on

Summer is my favorite season. I gleefully bask in the warm weather, inhale the scent of honeysuckles, and devour ripe peaches. So when I spied this new paper from Simple Stories, I was inspired to create a kit to reflect my love of summer.
