Change is tough. Even when the change is for a good reason. My older son has decided to become a fire fighter, so I am doing everything I can to help him on his chosen career path. For the past several years, I have homeschooled him. But during this year–his junior year–he has decided to take some fire fighter classes at the local community college.
My child–going off to college! I could not believe it!
Of course I realize that he is not really going off to college (at least not yet), and that he is only taking classes two days a week. But still. It is a change. And it is a challenge letting your child go off into the world.
I knew I would have to document this moment–for him and for me. So I took one of this month’s Sketch/Templates from the Simple Scrapper membership and made this layout.
My second layout also has to do with change–my going back to school. I have always wanted to get a degree in art. Now that my son is in school, I have a little bit of free time to pursue this dream. February’s Story Starters are all about quotations. I chose these words to document my step into a more creative life.
Through these changes I have felt all kinds of emotions–happiness, joy, resistance, worry, and hope. But mostly joy. I am happy that we both have these opportunities. And I am so glad I have documented these events in our lives!
