January 2018 Counterfeit Kit Challenge Reveal Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the this month’s kit reveal at Counterfeit Kit Challenge! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are enjoying the start to 2018!

(You should be arriving here from Julene’s blog. To access the entire blog hop list, go back to the CKC home page.)

We have had a few changes here at CKC—we’ve said goodbye to a few Master Forgers and are welcoming four new members to the design team—Cindy, Laura, Lori and Tina. We are thrilled to have these talented ladies on our team!

For January, Master Forger Lisa chose the Fair Isle kit from November 2017 at Cocoa Daisy as our inspiration kit. This collection is full of beautiful reds and greens, and touches of black and white. The embellishments are perfect for scrapbooking all of those holiday photographs, but versatile enough to be used for other pages as well.

To create my kit, I began by taking inspiration from the red and green color scheme and organic prints in several of the papers. I chose two Basic Grey papers in red with floral and organic patterns. I then chose a floral print with red and blue flowers and a white background. I also added a green paper with a very subtle floral print.

The inspiration kit mixed several floral and organic prints with more geometric prints—the papers with the cars, stripes, and black lettering. From my stash I pulled a paper with red musical notes, and black-and-white checked print, and a white paper with black lettering. I now felt that I had a mix of papers that echoed the colors and themes of the original.

I also added a red paper with glittered polka-dots to mimic the rhinestone embellishments in the Fair Isle kit.

Since the inspiration kit had several wood-themed embellishments (the pinecones and pine boughs), I chose a box of white-washed wooden shapes from Prima to begin rounding out my kit. Next I added a sheet of red letter stickers from October Afternoon and a pack of enamel dots in holiday colors by Echo Park. Finally I chose several die cuts from Maggie Holmes and Elle’s Studio in the same colors but lighter shades that really complement the patterned papers.

I took a cue from the swan die cut to name my kit Hello Darling—perfect for welcoming in a new year!

And now, on to see Laura’s take on this month’s kit!

Now go create!

I love how you took it in the floral direction, I had thought to do the same, but really needed to use my Christmas supplies, as I mostly plan to be scrapping Christmas this year in January. I can’t wait to see what you do with this beautiful kit!

  4. I love how you’ve pulled out the essential elements and colours of the inspiration kit, but taken it away from the Christmas feel, I think I’ll try that approach as well. Gorgeous :o)
