Sweet Smile | September Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop

Welcome to the September Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog Hop! You should have arrived from Jemma’s blog. (If not, find the entire blog hop participants on the CKC blog.) The inspiration kit this month is the August kit from the popular and beautiful Felicity Jane kit club. This collection is full of soft colors and a mix floral patterns with a few geometric designs–a great kit with which to head into fall!

I began choosing items for my kit by looking for papers that had similar colors to the inspiration kit–muted pinks, reds, greens, and greys. I also looked for patterns in the papers that would echo the ones in the kit–such as the circles and woodgrain prints.

The first additions to my kit were four patterned papers from Pink Paislee’s Cedar Lane collection–a circle-patterned paper, a woodgrain, and two geometric prints in soft pink and grey. Next I added three papers from October Afternoon. One print has cute smiling faces on it which reminded me of the “smile” sticker in the Felicity Jane kit. Finally I added a blue patterned paper from Bella Boulevard which coordinates with the whole kit.

I kept this kit fairly small–I only added a few choice embellishments. I began with a pack of die cuts and arrows from the Cedar Lane collection. I added letter stickers from October Afternoon, and then flair, clips, and washi from The Planner Society. The feathers on the arrows and floral washi mimic the birds and flowers in the patterned papers and embellishments in the inspiration kit.

When I first saw this month’s inspiration kit, I fell in love with its soft colors and designs. I am happy to say that I am equally in love with my kit, which I am calling Sweet Smile. I cannot wait to use this collection!

Head on over to Julene’s blog to continue on this month’s hop. (If you missed any stops along the way, just go back to the CKC blog to find the entire list.)

  1. Love that circle paper and I can’t wait to see how you use the smiling faces paper! That bow paper is pretty and although you mentioned that your kit is small, I think it’s lovely and it made me smile too.

  2. I’ve just finished using my Cedar Lane bits and bobs from last year, so I smiled when I saw it in your kit. (The colours go so well).Everything looks lovely and that smiley faced paper definitely appeals.

  3. Great direction to take with the Cedar Lane elements – similar but different enough. Your kit looks totally scrummy and I could buy it for sure. Anything with October Afternoon and Pink Paislee is a good combination!

  4. Oh I like that you’ve gone more cutesy and more fall than the original and pulled it off delightfully. And I love the kit name as well. Excellent counterfeiting!!
